Kazayra is a artist based in the San Francisco Bay Area, they immigrated from Mexico when they were a child. They used art as an escape as they grew up undocumented in Georgia, USA. Their goal is to capture their experience as queer non binary person navigating the USA and this life.  Kazayra is mostly a self taught artist, learning to draw and paint on their own. They were a part of the Queer Ancestors project based in San Francisco CA in 2019, where they learned the skill of linocut printing, which they still love and use in their work to this day. You can find some of their art work archived at the GLBT Historical Society in San Francisco and the University of California Berkeley Bancroft Library.

Statement from Kazayra.

Thank you to those in my community for your constant support and love. These past few years I have been learning to navigate my life, and focused on my journey on healing the many wounds that have brought me to where I am today. They have not only made me stronger but have inspired me to pour my soul and story into my art. We are all just stars in the universe trying to shine and illuminate our way through, and this is me sharing my light with you.
